We encourage new members to take advantage of The Foundation Five Complimentary Fitness Assessment and Follow-up Program which offers five appointments with a fitness specialist and free physical conditioning tests.  This assessment and program is valued at approximately $250 and is offered free to our new members. To sign up, contact a fitness instructor or call the Fitness Center at 283-4000 (ext.129).

Appointment 1: Assessment and Goal Setting
During this first appointment we will examine your fitness habits and assist in determining your goals.  A fitness specialist will meet with you to discuss your health history and fitness goals.  The fitness specialist will assess your fitness status by checking your blood pressure, heart rate, body composition, cardiovascular fitness level, strength and flexibility levels. The appointment will last approximately one hour. For your health and safety, and in order to get the most accurate results, please follow these guidelines:

Wear shorts, shirt and athletic shoes (tights and leotards are
       not recommended).
Refrain from all exercise the day of testing.
Do not ingest alcohol or coffee 12 hours prior to testing.
Get plenty of sleep the night before your evaluation.
Eat a light meal at least two hours before testing.

The data from your tests and evaluation will help determine a fitness program that is right for you. Your next appointment will be set before you leave. We try to schedule members within a week of the initial appointment so you may continue with the same instructor and avoid delay in creating your program.

Appointment 2: Programming

At your second appointment, the fitness specialist will review the assessment results with you and design an exercise program according to your individual goals, needs and workout preferences. After discussing your new fitness recommendations, the instructor will acquaint you with the equipment you will be using in your exercise routine, showing you proper technique and form in order to maximize the benefits of your workout. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and athletic shoes.

Appointment 3: Program Follow-Up
The third time you meet, the fitness specialist will review your workout program, check how you are performing each exercise to ensure you get the most from your workout and make adjustments to further enhance your routine as needed. The fitness specialist will add new challenges and make any necessary modifications to your exercise routine.  This follow-up is important to keep you focused and motivated toward achieving your fitness goals.

Appointment 4: Reassessment
After three months you may schedule a re-test session. The same tests that were performed in your initial assessment will be done again so that we may compare your current condition to your first test results. This will give you a measure of how well you are progressing toward your fitness goals and help determine new areas of concentration.  We will also help you set new fitness goals.

Appointment 5: The Next Step
At your final appointment of the complimentary sessions, your fitness status will be discussed, your goals redefined as necessary and your workout routine adjusted.  We will discuss what you can do to ensure continued success.

The Foundation Five program is offered to new members one time only, and the testing is done free of charge to those going through the program. We do, however, recommend yearly assessments to help keep you on track with your long-term fitness goals.
